[Solution] Attached files in Gmail is “Queued” and later “Failed” to deliver

I learn some quick solutions for "Failed" error Gmail messages. I was trying to send some important files or PDF as an attachment via Gmail, but it was "Queued" for a while and later showing as "Failed" to deliver.

Recently I faced an issue with my Gmail App for Android in sending emails with attachment especially PDF files. Though I was connected with hi-speed internet I was not able to send an email.

Even my Outbox was completely empty and there were no emails in the queue but still encounter with an error message saying “Queued”.

Gmail Queued mail with attachment

I went ahead and tried some troubleshooting steps that I’m gonna share here. I believe this will somehow help in resolving the issue if you ever encountered the same.

First and foremost thing that you need to make sure that only Gmail App is having an issue. And you’re able to send the emails with attachment via Gmail web interface.

In-case, if you face the same issue on the web as well then this tips won’t resolve the issue.

Make sure:

  • You’re running on the latest version of Gmail app
  • You’re not sending the attachment over the Gmail send_limit of 50MB
  • Have a stable data network connection to your phone

Clear App’s cache and data from settings

  1. Open Phone Settings
  2. Select Application Manager
  3. Swipe to “All” apps
  4. Choose Gmail from available apps
  5. Hit Clear cache and data

Try to Unsync Gmail account temporarily

  1. Go to Settings
  2. Select Accounts
  3. Choose Google Account
  4. Select the Email Account
  5. Uncheck Gmail and later Check it
  6. Try this for a few times.

Remove Gmail Account and setup again

  1. Go to Settings
  2. Select Accounts
  3. Choose Google Account
  4. Select the Email Account
  5. Tap to “Remove” association completely
  6.  Reconfigure the Gmail Account again

Decrease the days to sync option

  1. Open Gmail App
  2. Go to Settings
  3. Select your account
  4. Tap on Days to sync
  5. Try limiting it to 30 days or even less

Make sure to keep background data enabled

  1. Go to Phone Settings
  2. Tap to Data Usage option
  3. Scroll down to “Gmail” App
  4. Make sure Restrict background data is not selected

Having said that, make sure you’re connected to a stable network, and there is no intermittent data network issue with your ISP or WiFi.

What worked for you?

When I removed my Gmail account and later reconfigured – it worked perfectly!

Also, If your problem gets resolved earlier, then you don’t need to try later troubleshooting steps mentioned. However, share your thoughts in below comment box whether any of this troubleshooter helped or still facing any challenges.
